Brenda Ramsey has been an employee of the University of California since February 1973. In February 1999 she assumed the position of Management Services Officer at the UCLA Institute of the Environment. For the first 19 years she worked as Assistant to many of the Department Chairs, and since 1991 performed as an Assistant to the Principal Investigator of many DARPA Contracts. In this capacity, she was responsible for the management and coordination of day-to-day research activities--including finance, contract reporting, and functioning as the interface between the research groups, the University and government funding agencies--but she has also been the key organizer for many technical conferences and site visits.
Brenda is a cat-lover and takes pride in sharing her "family of felines" (all Siamese) with you. Photos In addition to her love of animals, she is an avid quilter Newest Quilts Older Quilts and gardener and has an active interest in walking and bicycling. She has been the start-line coordinator for the Los Angeles Marathon since 1990. LA Marathon Startline In 1999, the race will be held on MARCH 14. In the year 2000, it goes back to the original schedule -- March 5, 2000. Marathon Home Page She continues to be involved with many other events, e.g., AIDS Walkathon, AIDS Dance-athon, Western Hemisphere Marathon, YMCA Community Cup Event, Silent Auctions with Maestro Computing; Volunteer Coordinater for the 1997 UCLA NCAA Tennis Tournament, Event Coordinator for the Ferrari Concourse d'Elegance, which was held in conjunction with the Ford Los Angeles GRAND PRIX, and SRLA (Students Run LA) training runs. She performed as the Coordinator of the Rider Holding area for the California AIDS Bike Ride 5 which was held in June 1998. California AIDS Ride. The Rock-n-Roll Marathon, Rock-n-Roll Marathon which took place in San Diego, California, found Brenda working on race day with Race Central, the timing company. She also manned the Los Angeles Marathon booth at the 2-day Expo. On Labor Day weekend, September 5-7, 1998 she coordinated the 4 information booths at the Ford LA Street Race. When time permits, she works for PRIME TIME - A race timing and finish line management company.
